What is distance learning?

We must clarify what distance learning and online learning are. Online learning is when all 25 or 30 students and a teacher communicate at the same time and study through programs as a zoom and stuff like this.

Distance education or distance learning, is a field of education that depends on the Information technology, and instructional systems that plan to provide learning to students who are physically not present in a class room setting. In stead of attending courses personally, teachers and students communicate at times of their convenience and choosing and exchange printed or electronic material through any suitable technology.

Kazakhstan announced quarantine on April 6th due to the spread of the virus. Therefore, all schools, colleges and universities transferred to distance learning in the fourth quarter of the school year.

Distance learning is more convenient and the teacher sends materials on apps like whatsapp or email address and students can answer these tasks at any convenient them time. Given all the nuances, the Minister of Education indicated that all educational institutions should be taught remotely. Absolutely everybody: students, parents, even teachers complain about the expense of distance learning. But I think that we must survive all the difficulties together and find a way out of any situation. Each situation has adventages and disadventages, and today’s situation is proof of that.

I would like to point out some advantages of distance learning:

-students become more self-dependent; -a tripartite relationship emerged between the parent, student and teacher; -teachers gain new skills such as using social networks, edit videos and etc.; -children are interested in learning in a new form; -pupils improve listening and speaking skills through video lessons and audio chats.

To sum up, distance learning is one of the new technologies in education and we have to follow the innovation of education. Every day, occurs a change in the education system, so teacher must deal quite successfully with a difficult situation. Maybe this is the beginning of transition of education to a new level, to a new format?
