Mukagali Makatayev is a poet who gave the Kazakh poetry of the sixties a proud spirit which made a huge contribution to the Kazakh art of literature. The song lines, born of his pen, have enriched our national spiritual fund with their unique images. His poems «Moor», «Ilyich», «Bolsheviks», «Chile — my light» are works that realistically convey the feelings and moods, faith and spirituality of people who lived in the Soviet period. The poet did not write poetry for fun, but set himself the goal of writing «for the treatment of wounded souls.» He is a poet who simultaneously experiences both the joys and sorrows of life, who early learned what life is and what death is, seeking healing for the spiritual wounds of his contemporaries. So, the poet Mukagali, who gave Kazakh poetry a special sound and a unique impulse, will forever remain in the heart of every Kazakh as a song.
The theme of the Motherland occupies a special place in the poetic work of M. Makatayev. In the poem «My Motherland» the poet says: «I always sing my Fatherland — Kazakhstan.» We seem to hear his voice calling us to do good to be useful to our homeland, and be it’s true patriots:
“It is not difficult to pronounce:
“How I love my land!»
By your deed, not by your word
Help your homeland.
Live honestly in the world
Do not throw words to the wind.
For the homeland to live
Do not die forever!
In the poem «Thoughts Born by the Native Land» M. Makataev talks about his small homeland, «the golden cradle» — Karasaz. The poems born here are evidence of his great love for his native land, which raised him and helped him gain wings: «Native land, when I look at your open spaces, my wings are growing!». The poet enthusiastically loved his native land: its nature, the land on which he was born and raised, the people around him: “Oh, my creator, thanks to you, I first saw the greatness and beauty of nature! My first love is my native land, pure as a spring! »
In conclusion, I want to say that Mukagali Makatayev made a huge contribution to the development of Kazakh literature, and one can say even more, not just the development of domestic literature, but also the development of each of us. Each of his works seems to show our souls with fresh rain in a terrible drought. His life was not easy, but despite all the difficulties, he never for a minute ceased to be a great person in benefited society. Despite everything never for a second he didn’t stop believing in the power of love, love for the Motherland, love for each of us. And while studying the creativity of such a person, you involuntarily want to straighten your posture, become nobler and more honest even in relation to yourself, not to mention society, to become a little kinder and more polite.
